The Good News of Jesus

Who is God?

There is one true God.He is all-powerful, perfect, and eternal. That means He has no beginning or end.God exists as Father, Son (Jesus), and Holy Spirit—three persons, one God.This is called the Trinity.
God is holy, which means He is completely pure and set apart from all evil.He always does what is right and is full of love, wisdom, and truth. He created everything and deserves all our love and trust.(Matthew 28:19)

Why did God make us?

God made people in His image. That means we were created to reflect His character in how we live, love, and treat others. He made us to know Him, love Him, and live with Him forever.(Genesis 1:27)

What went wrong?

The first humans, Adam and Eve, disobeyed God.This was the first sin—choosing our own way instead of God’s way.Sin is anything we think, say, or do that goes against God’s perfect character.
Now every person is born with a heart that naturally wants to live without God.We all sin—we lie, act selfishly, hurt others, and ignore God.
Sin brings brokenness, guilt, shame, and death. It separates us from God, who is holy.(Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23)

Why can’t we fix it?

Many people try to fix their sin by being “good,” going to church, or helping others. But none of that can remove the guilt of sin.
God is not only holy—He is also just, which means He always gives the right punishment for wrongdoing. He cannot ignore sin. It must be dealt with fairly.
That’s why we need a Savior—someone perfect who can take our place and bring us back to God.

What did God do?

God loves us, even in our sin.So He sent His Son, Jesus, to rescue us.
Jesus is fully God and fully human. He lived a perfect life—never sinned—and showed us how to live. Then He died on a cross. But He wasn’t being punished for His own sins.He was taking the punishment we deserve.
This is called atonement—Jesus gave His life to pay for our sins and make us right with God.Three days later, He rose from the dead, showing His power over sin and death.(Romans 5:8; 1 Peter 3:18)

How can we be saved?

We can’t earn our way back to God.We are saved because of His grace—His free and undeserved kindness toward us.Here’s how we respond to this good news:

1. Admit your sin

Be honest with God. We all fall short.(1 John 1:8)

2. Turn from sin (repent)

To repent means to turn away from sin and turn back to God.It’s more than feeling sorry—it’s a decision to stop going our own way.(Mark 1:15)

3. Trust in Jesus (faith)

To have faith means to believe in who Jesus is and what He has done. It’s putting your full trust in Him to save you—not in yourself, your good deeds, or religion.(Romans 10:9)

4. Receive new life

When you believe in Jesus, God gives you a new heart. You begin to love Him, want to obey Him, and grow to be more like Jesus. This is called being born again.(2 Corinthians 5:17)

5. Become a child of God

When you trust in Christ, God forgives you, brings you into His family, and promises you eternal life. You are loved, accepted, and never alone.(John 1:12; Romans 8:1)

Who does the saving?

God does.We don’t save ourselves.
God the Father planned our rescue.Jesus the Son paid the price by dying and rising again. The Holy Spirit changes our hearts and helps us believe.
Salvation is a gift we receive, not something we earn.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is the gift of God.”(Ephesians 2:8–9)

What is the church?

The church is not just a building. It’s the family of people who trust in Jesus.
The church gathers to worship God, learn the Bible, pray, love one another, and tell others about Jesus.Christians also obey Jesus by practicing two things He gave us: baptism and the Lord’s Supper. These are signs that remind us of His saving work.(Matthew 28:19–20)

What happens in the end?

Jesus will return one day to bring justice and peace to the world. He will raise the dead, judge all people, and make everything new.
Those who trust in Him will live with God forever in a new heaven and earth with no more pain, death, or sin. Those who reject Him will face eternal separation from God.(Revelation 21:1–5)

The big picture

God made you.Sin broke you.Jesus came to save you.You can be made new if you trust in Him
